Position Summary:

Sovah Danville is seeking a Prn Cath Lab Technologist to perform a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks before, during and after cardiac catheterization and special procedures. 

  • Performs a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks before, during and after cardiac catheterization and special procedures.
  • Primarily responsible for the care of patients undergoing diagnostic cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures.
  • Responsible for assisting will all procedures providing patient education, assessment and monitoring, and participating in performance improvement activities.
  • Monitors hemodynamics, electrocardiograms, and waveform analysis.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance and practices infection control policies.
  • Assures appropriate orders are obtained and followed during the performance of all procedures.
  • Assists the cardiologist in invasive procedures including cardiac catheterization, coronary interventions, diagnostic peripheral cases, and peripheral angioplasty.
  • Assists physician in ICD insertions of temporary pacemakers, Swans-Ganz insertions, intra-aortic balloons, and implanting of permanent pacemakers.
  • Accepts assignment of call rotation.
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders; verifies patient’s identification before performing any procedure.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies; implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

Minimum Education:
  • Graduate of a program in Radiology Technology required.
 
Required Certifications/Licenses:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association (AHA) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association (AHA) required within 90 days of hire.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
 
Required Skills:
  • Must have previously demonstrated expertise in solving technical problems, organizing work and communication effectively with patients, family, nurses, physician and other employees.
 
Minimum Work Experience:
  • Previous clinical experience preferred.
