Your Role at Baxter:

This position will take a hands-on role in the preparation and filing of Baxter’s U.S. consolidated federal income tax return, including the preparation and filings of any estimated and extension tax payments related thereto. In certain instances, this role may also review work performed by other staff members. This role will also prepare responses to information document requests issued by the IRS related to federal income tax matters to be reviewed by the Sr Manager, Domestic Tax Compliance & IRS Audits. Lastly, this role will support quarterly and annual tax provision matters, U.S.-international and state income tax compliance matters on an as-needed basis.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Support the U.S. federal income tax compliance process in order to meet external filing requirements. This includes following internal deadlines and managing multiple workstreams to prepare and e-file the U.S. consolidated federal income tax return in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare U.S. federal proforma returns and consolidated return items, including any book-tax adjustments. In certain instances, this role may also review work performed by other staff members.
  • Prepares responses to information document requests and tax notices issued by the IRS related to federal income tax matters to be reviewed by the Sr Manager, Domestic Tax Compliance & IRS Audits.
  • Prepare federal income tax payments and extensions.
  • Extract financial data from the Company’s general ledger into CorpTax.
  • Prepare and analyze any federal return-to-provision adjustments after the U.S. consolidated federal income tax return is filed.
  • Support the U.S. federal and state R&D Credit study including scheduling interviews between the Company and its external R&D credit service provider.
  • Follow the U.S. federal income tax return filing calendar to ensure compliance with all deadlines.
  • Provide assistance on annual and quarterly U.S. federal tax provision calculations.
  • Assist with implementing process improvement matters related to the federal income tax return compliance process, including but not limited to reformatting workpapers to drive efficiencies (trial balances, domestic proforma and consolidated workpapers) and automation opportunities to reduce/eliminate non-value add work.
  • Incorporate the impact of U.S. federal income tax law changes to ensure the accurate filing of the Company’s federal income tax return.
  • Provide support on state income tax matters on an as needed basis.
  • Handles documentation organization of files on shared network.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3 plus years of corporate federal income tax experience
  • Experience with working cross-functionally within a Corporate Tax function, including U.S-international compliance, state income tax compliance and tax accounting groups.
  • Working experience on IRS Audits is preferred
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proficient in CorpTax is preferred
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills for multi-tasking

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
