Payroll Tax Specialist


Ensure accurate and timely payroll tax reporting and payments for a large, multi-state organization. Oversee payroll processing, tax compliance, tax reporting, and W-2 corrections. Serve as the organization’s subject matter expert on payroll tax compliance. Develop and maintain audits supporting payroll. 


Responsibilities

  • Prepare consolidated financial statements by analyzing data from the general ledger and departments
  • Maintain and balance automated consolidation systems, ensuring data accuracy
  • Analyze information and develop reports, including schedules for audits
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and assist in preparing annual reports for states
  • Develop and implement accounting procedures, focusing on continuous improvement
  • Research and interpret financial data to respond to inquiries
  • Collaborate across departments to solve issues impacting organizational goals
  • Provide phone support and handle payroll tax tasks, including compliance and reporting
  • Manage vendor relations for tax notices and oversee quarter/year-end processing
  • Coordinate year-end processes, including W-2 distribution
  • Process backup garnishments and provide support for off-cycle check processing
  • Provide team support and perform additional duties as needed


Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years in payroll processing
  • Experience with multi-state payroll for large companies
  • Experience with timekeeping and payroll software/systems
  • Knowledge and experience with multi-state/local payroll tax law
