System Engineer

We are looking for a System Engineer to join our team in support of High Powered Microwave engineering services for the Naval Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). Candidate will work on a diverse team with other contractors and government personnel.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the government customer in coordinating all engineering-related Research, Development, and Prototyping activities for Naval High-Powered Microwave (HPM) and High-Powered Radio Frequency (HPRF) Programs
  • Collaborate with multiple government and contractor agencies
  • Regularly work engineering documents, to include System Engineering Plans (SEPs), Test and Evaluation Strategies (TESs), Performance Specifications (PSPECs), Configuration Management Plans (CMPs), Integrated Master Schedules (IMSs) and Safety documents
  • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and schedule working groups with them to ensure documentation is as accurate is possible
  • Track program requirements to include recommended changes as well as verification methods and verification criteria
  • Oversee and ensure the risk tracker is updated and complete throughout the development and prototyping phases
  • Assist in evaluating competing contractors during initial development of a prototype HPM System to help with the Government Team’s decision for contract downselect
  • Create Entry and Exit criteria details for Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events
  • Provide the Project Lead with updates to administrative type documents including Integrated Master Plans (IMPs) and Organizational Charts

Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship
  • Five years of experience in Navy experimental research or systems engineering programs
  • Three years of experience in systems engineering for U.S. Navy or other Armed Services’ programs and system to platform integration
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred Skills & Experience: 

  • Experience with the U.S. Navy or armed services’ directed energy systems
  • Experience with requirements management using the DOORS tool
  • Knowledge of SE disciplines, including configuration management, risk management, Cybersecurity, system safety, and certification processes
  • Experience with Model Based System Engineering Systems (MBSE) tools and processes
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

Education:  A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline is required

Clearance: A Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance

Travel: Travel to NSWCDD and Coast Guard Headquarters occasionally

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.  

The projected annual compensation range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
