Phlebotomist- Hiring NOW

Actalent is looking for a full time Phlebotomist with experience in the South Bay/ Harbor City area. Will need to be flexible to work weekends as well as ALL shifts, making $20-$23/hr 8 hour shifts.

South Bay is in need of an experienced Phlebotomist to join our growing team. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for drawing blood in a fast paced in patient and out-patient environment, tagging each sample and then working closely with the lab to make sure that the proper samples are delivered for each patient. The successful candidate will also deliver excellent patient service, answer patient questions, act as a resource for patient information and strengthen the relationship between the patient and our entire medical facility.

• Preparing patients before drawing blood
• Explaining blood draw procedures to patients and answering any questions about the process
• Following all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas
• Gathering medical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags and test tubes
• Verifying patient information and labeling blood samples properly
• Accurately updating patient information in the organization database
• Helping nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood draws
• Working with supervising physicians and following their directions at all times
• Receives specimens for other cases when delivered to the Laboratory
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Outpatient (LabCorp, Quest, etc.) setting experience -must be able to draw 45-55 patients within an 8-hour shift
• Inpatient (Hospital) setting experience- must be able to draw 25-35 patients within an 8-hour shift
• Excellent attendance and behavior record. Flexible on shifts and hours
• Able to travel on all of our Medical Office Building labs (there are 8 of them throughout South Bay)
• It's important to note that we are not in a position to provide training on phlebotomy skills. Therefore, contractor venipuncture skills and knowledge must already be given to any candidate we consider.
