Conemaugh Miners Medical Center is seeking a Relief - Patient Care Assistant in Hastings, PA. The Patient Care Assistant will be working under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor, Registered Nurse, and in collaboration with other members of the Patient Care Team. The Patient Care Assistant will assist with the direct day to day care of patients and families. Performs a variety of non-patient care duties. Responsible for providing and maintaining positive interactions with every patient/family/visitor encountered. Provides populations specific care to meet the developmental needs of those patients served.

Essential Functions:
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse:
Participates in Patient Care Team’s delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patient’s spiritual and cultural differences.
Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in delivery of patient care.
Orients patients/families to rooms and call bell systems.
Obtains initial vital signs, height and weight upon entry/admission.
Records daily I & O, vital signs and food intake into EMR.
Transports patients via appropriate means in a safe, dignified manner.
Adheres to patient activity restrictions.
Establishes positive relationships with patients/families and reports concerns accurately and concisely to appropriate care team member.
Maintains positive interactions with staff on other nursing units and diagnostic testing areas.
Assists members of the health care team with specific tasks that support patient care services.
Screens the patients for pain and promptly reports the complaint of pain to the nurse.
Maintains confidentiality of all patients, hospital and employee related information
Assists the nurse in providing patient treatments and diagnostic procedures as directed.
Participates in Performance Improvement activities as directed.
Actively participates in Patient Satisfaction initiatives.
Prepares, maintains, applies and removes cardiac monitoring leads.
Replaces electrodes/leads/monitor batteries, as needed.
Completes ECG in a timely manner.
Prepares and cleans equipment after patient use.
Retrieves and returns equipment/appliances as needed.
Adheres to policies/procedures.
Performs the 5 moments of hand hygiene.
Attends six (6) staff meetings per year.
Reads all staff meeting minutes.
Completes required yearly education including annual 1:1 education (SECURE training).
Maintains CPR certification.
Commits to Common Ground Code of Conduct.

Qualifications:
Education:
Required: High School Diploma or GED, graduate of a Nursing Assistant Program OR experience as a direct care provider.
Preferred: N/A.

Experience:
Required: N/A.
Preferred: One-year acute care experience.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:
Required: Basic Life Support or acquire within introductory period.
Preferred: N/A. 

Schedule Requirements:

Flexibility to let the manager know what days you want to work. 

Must work 2 shifts per pay minimum, at times, it can be up to full-time hours if the manager needs you, and you agree. 

Not required to work weekends and/or holidays.

Skills and Abilities:
Skilled at understanding and applying patient age specific needs.
Skilled at demonstrating and implementing all core and job specific competencies/behaviors.
Ability to apply technical skills and demonstrates appropriate interpersonal skills.
