Description:

Our Client, a global leader in health, medical, and research that provides undisputed care to patients, is looking to add a knowledgeable and passionate Medical Laboratory Scientist to join their team in Logansport, IN! Being a leader in laboratory testing procedures, our client actively partners with organizations ranging from community hospitals to thriving health networks, (and includes everything in-between!). In this particular case, they have partnered with a local hospital in the Logansport area, and are responsible for all laboratory functions and responsibilities for this facility. Being with a smaller network brings forth a great deal of learning opportunity for professionals, as these hospitals allow exposure to all bench testing, a wider variety of instruments/equipment, and regulatory methodologies supporting ASCP criteria. While working in this opportunity, you can expect to report onsite Monday through Friday, from 2:00pm - 10:30pm, with occasional overtime. You will have the opportunity to complete a large variety of tasks from day-to-day as well, providing numerous opportunities for growth and development! Your daily responsibilities may be:

Daily Duties:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures -Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment

Skills:

blood bank, coagulation, laboratory, blood samples, calibration, clia, sop, sap

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health/Life Sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, etc.) and 6 months to 2 years experience in a Medical Laboratory

OR

  • Associate's degree in Life Sciences and 2-4 years experience in a Medical Laboratory

AND

+ strong attention to detail

+ Willingness to work collaboratively AND independently

+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

+ strong communication skills

+ Experience with SOP/SAP

+ Familiar with CLIA / State Regulatory Requirements for auditing purpose

Nice to Have:

  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Hospital / medical / diagnostic laboratory experience
  • Calibration and troubleshooting of various equipment and instruments (coagulations, pipetting, urinalysis, Staining, etc.)
