Job Description

About the role:

Responsible for the development of manufacturing processes. The primary responsibilities of this role are the execution of equipment and process improvement projects or development of our products and processes and being a system owner for manufacturing equipment and processes. Enhancing process knowledge and mentorship are major elements of this position. You will provide technical support to the manufacturing and maintenance functions for operating equipment and processes.

How you will contribute:

  • Utilize standard engineering principles to resolve difficult problems, from conception to final design with team input.

  • Schedule and lead a team through the execution of a medium sized project or defined piece of a larger project. This includes evaluation, selection, and adaptation of multiple engineering techniques, constructing detailed, accurate project schedules, working with development groups and technical support groups.

  • Devise new approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles.

  • Supervise engineers and technicians and contractors on assigned work and projects.

  • Perform standard engineering assignments which are typically a significant portion of a larger project. Select sound techniques make design recommendations under the direction of the Manager. Assess results for application, validity, and conformance to specifications. Recommend material and process specifications.

  • Perform equipment testing and commissioning, and support qualification activities.

  • Lead/participate in process equipment improvement projects. This consists of identification and implementation of equipment and process changes in adherence with industry standards and company quality systems.

  • Support manufacturing operations through the system owner concept. Remain responsible for equipment operating efficiencies and identification and resolution of systemic issues.

  • Create detailed and accurate project schedules and budgets following the approved scope. Interface and align with departments. Remain accountable for projects timelines and spending. Resolve issues that may jeopardize project schedules/scope/cost promptly.

  • Establish Good Engineering Practices and implement projects following the prescribed project management methodology.

  • Process engineering skills based on sound engineering and scientific principles.

  • Technical expertise and working knowledge of other related disciplines of engineering common to the business.

  • Demonstrated ability in technical writing, describing complex processes and qualifications.

  • Able to incorporate cGMP concepts, quality systems requirements and safety into process and equipment design.

  • Will provide solutions that reflect an understanding of business objectives and cost implications.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline required. Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering Degree.

  • 3+ years of related experience. Some leadership experience preferred for supervisory roles.

Important Considerations

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. You may:

  • In general, your work will be a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.

  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 25 lbs.

  • May work in a confined area.

  • Some Clean Room and cool/hot storage conditions.

  • May work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.

  • Will need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.

  • May work in a cold, hot or wet environment.

  • May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
