Description:

Going to be a hybrid role - 60% QC 40% R&D

There main focus will be QC (Description Below) When it comes to the R&D side they will be assisting management & the other chemist with development of current formulations, and new formulations that are requests from customers, and new products they are trying to bring to the market themselves as well.

Job Description:

The Quality Control Lab Technician will champion the QC process by providing quality control and assurance testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products while organizing all QC documents, charts, and retains. He/she will also help with testing needed for development projects.

Objectives:

• Perform quality control testing of coating formulations including viscosity, color, temperature, pH, sag, flow, curing time and appearance

• Prepare lab scale paint formulations, apply, and evaluate properties: cure time, hardness, abrasion, slip, chemical/UV resistance, color consistency, etc.

• Perform and maintain calibration, certification, maintenance, upkeep, and cleanliness of lab equipment and facility

• Prepare standards and solutions needed to maintain calibration of instruments.

• Assist with writing or revising work instructions

• Auditing quality documents; follow up with production on missing information/quality related questions

• Document non-conformances

• Generate COAs and review for accuracy

• Optimize existing procedures

• Manage archival of Quality Documents and retains

• Work with technical service resources to efficiently relay QC info, including retain examination and retesting

• Safe working practices in industrial and all environments

Monday - Friday from 8am - 4:30pm

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Must Haves:

Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Chemical Engineering

1+ year of experience in industry preferably with coatings, paints or epoxy
