Position Summary:
As a Pharmacy Technician 3, you’ll support the on-site pharmacist to prepare prescription orders for facilities. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that pharmacy standards are maintained, policies are carried out and objectives are accomplished.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Pharmacist with proper labeling and filling prescriptions
- Accurately preparing prescriptions under the Pharmacist’s supervision
- Packaging Rx labels
- Packaging medications in bottles or bingo cards for dispensing and for delivery
- Restocking and organizing the pharmacy shelves (drugs, supplies, etc.)
- Removing out of date items from inventory/shelves
- Refilling off-site inventory boxes with emergency medications
- Comprehensive operation of pharmacy automation
- Full operation of an MTS350 machine to be able to efficiently pre-pack medications
- Properly partially fill orders if we do not have the full quantity in stock
- Properly package up medications in multi-dose blister cards or vials for patients who are discharging or going out on leave from the nursing home
- Properly handle and package medications deemed hazardous drugs in accordance with USP800
- Receive drug products through inventory management application
- Comprehensive duties that are required when dealing with narcotics, including but not limited to: prepacking, labeling, packaging, returning to stock
- Non-sterile Compounding of medications (Creams/Ointments/Suspensions)
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required
- 2-3 years or more of Long Term Care or Retail pharmacy experience preferred
- Able to work independently as well as in a diverse, team environment
- Registered technician or certification required in applicable state
- National technician certification is required through either PTCB or another nationally recognized program
