Position Summary:

·       Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.

·       May administer medication.

·       Documents patient care given.

·       Performs office procedures.

·       Maintains procedure schedule.

·       Conducts preauthorizations for procedures.

·       Monitors refrigerator temperatures.

·       Orders supplies and maintains stock.

·       Maintains progress notes in eCW.

·       Administers Injections.

·       Provides patient training for self-injections.

·       Conducts immunizations.

·       Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with physician, patient, and families.

·       Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional wellbeing of the patient.

·       Conduct patient referrals to outside facilities and area physician offices.

·       Completes forms, as requested or needed.

·       Accesses computer for patient reports and micro medex.

·       Maintains drug sample closet.

·       Conduct preauthorizations for medications.

·       Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

·       Current licensure as Licensed Practical Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing.

·       AHA BLS certification required.

·       Emergency Department nursing / occupational health nursing experience helpful.

·       Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

·       Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

·       Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with clients, patients and their families.

·       Neat in appearance and professional dress

·       Ability to work independently

·       Must be able to work flexible hours and off premises, including some travel. Must hold a current VA driver’s license.
