Job Summary

 

Sovah Health is looking for the ideal candidate who will assist the department director, professional nursing staff, and/or physician by performing clerical and assigned administrative duties and by functioning as the unit/area receptionist.

·         Composes, types, and transcribes correspondence, forms, reports, presentation materials and other written communications.

·         Receives, screens, and routes visitors and telephone calls. Responds to, escalates, and follows up on inquiries and problems as appropriate.

·         Schedules/coordinates meetings, conferences, special events, appointments and travel arrangements.

·         Maintains assigned calendar(s).

·         Maintains files and office equipment.

·         Orders and stocks supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education

High school graduate or GED. Successful completion of medical terminology class preferred.

Required Skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Requires the ability to read and write legibly and carry out direction promptly and accurately. Must have good organizational skills and be able to work effectively and efficiently. Must exhibit effective communication skills and interpersonal skills. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Requires the ability to respond quickly and calmly under stressful or emergency situations.

Requires full range of motion including the handling of patients and/or equipment, manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. May require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. May require frequent bending, squatting, or kneeling. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and/or irregular hours. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

AHA BLS required within 6 months of hire.

Minimum Work Experience

Secretarial and/or clerical experience including typing skills and knowledge of computer operations desirable. Requirements will include successful completion of orientation program and competency requirements.
