Shelby Baptist Medical Center: Located in Alabaster, this facility is equipped with 252 beds and sees over 51,000 patients in the emergency department every year. Shelby offers advanced technology resources including a 3 Tesla MRI, a robotic surgery program, and a state-of-the-art cardiology suite. Shelby offers a full range of services to meet the diverse needs of patients including fast, life-saving response times for patients with chest pain or stroke symptoms; cardiology, including specialized surgical services; orthopedics, including rehabilitation; and psychiatric care.

Summary

Performs standard and complex electroencephalographic recordings under minimum direction.
This position is responsible for obtaining standard, cerebral silence, STAT and outpatient EEG recordings the position is also responsible for monitoring additional physiological phenomena by means of appropriate techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Performs portable and non-portable EEG testing modalities.
  • Prepares patient for testing.
  • Performs all necessary calibration procedures.
  • Documents behaviors and other relevant information observed during testing.
  • Performs all necessary computer functions relating to EEG ordering and result reporting.
Qualifications - External

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associates degree in physical or biological science

Experience

Required: 1 year hospital experience

Certifications

Required: BLS
Preferred: REEGT
