LSF is looking for a talented Nurturing Parent Program Facilitator who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.

Candidate must be Willing to travel between two sites (Miami/Homestead).

Purpose and Impact:

The Parent Facilitator is responsible for all aspects of teaching the Parenting classes, which provides parenting skills to voluntary and court-mandated clients throughout Dade County. The Parent Facilitator assumes the broad role of teacher, supporter, advocate, child development specialist and liaison to the larger community. The Parent Facilitator is trained to have extensive knowledge and skills, including an understanding of child abuse and neglect, the ability to conduct a developmental screening, parenting and home management skills, and the ability to access community resources. The Parent Facilitator works with each family and facilities weekly parenting groups which helps families develop strength-based action plans to address areas identified as challenges, provide information to improve parenting skills, teach child development maintain collaborative relationship with primary care providers and the school and community. The Parent Facilitator manages the grant, adheres to all contract requirements, and assists the Clinical Director in preparation of reports.

Essential Functions:
  • Facilitate Parenting education classes using strengthen based curriculum
  • Supervises the parent support coach and provides feedback in the areas of data entry of each client, facilitation of the classes, corrects issues in SAMIS entry and oversees budgetary
  • Responsible for classroom preparation which includes setup, cleanup, and teaching of classes
  • Comply with class scheduled (Day and evening classes).
  • Prepares and conduct presentations and classes throughout Dade

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, modeling, and support to students
  • Schedule, conduct and provide written reports on pre and post observations of parent /child
  • Administer AAPI (Adult Adolescent Parenting Inventory) and PSI (Parenting Stress Inventory).

  • Attend training/ workshops on an ongoing

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field is
Experience:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of human service experience required. Experience with structured groups, parent education groups, and at-risk children and families is preferred; community/agency liaison experience is desired.
Skills:
Communications Skills:
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) are essential. A solid knowledge of the rules of grammar and punctuation are required. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of Ability to demonstrate active listening, validation and patience in a group session.
Computer Skills:
  • Basic computer skills that allow for creating Word and Excel documents are The ability to upload videos to Dropbox and use Video Conferencing Programs like Zoom is required.
