Beth Israel Deaconess Milton is seeking Registered Nurses to participate in our Transition to Practice Program (TTP)

The transition to practice (TTP) role is designed to support a successful
transition from novice to proficient ED Nurse and is appropriate for the BSN prepared nurse who has graduated within the last 2 years. Participants in this program will work within a cohort / preceptor model through a comprehensive orientation process specific to the Emergency Nursing.
The TTP orientation will be required as day /evening shift without weekends. At the completion of the program staff will be placed into a schedule with every other weekend rotation.

This position is for 36 hours a week during the day/evening shift, no weekends for the TTP program. Once completed with this program the RN will transition to a permeant position with weekend rotation


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the general supervision of the ED Nurse Manager, or designee, with-in the framework of the RN license, participates in the following activities:
• Provides direct care to patients and makes necessary nursing judgments. Responsible for systematically assessing the health care needs of individuals or groups and for the formulation of a care plan, its implementation and evaluation.
• Demonstrates the ability for decision making by integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience in caring for patients
• Coordinates the care of patients and directs assistive personnel in order to provide safe, effective, efficient, equitable and timely, patient-centered care. Demonstrates awareness of environmental forces on health care of patients and their families. Demonstrates the ability to identify resources necessary to implement the plan of care.
• Works in a collegial and collaborative relationship with other health professionals to determine healthcare needs of patients and families. Develops relationships with patients and families that maintain and communicate trust and respect. Communicates effectively in the exchange of information. Demonstrate the ability to act as a patient advocate.
• Maintains annual mandatory education requirements and certifications which include emergency skills(BLS,ACLS,PALS), and unit based competencies.
• Identifies needs for professional continued growth and development in conjunction with the unit leadership and education. Participates in activities that contribute to professional development and takes part in quality improvement activities.
• Assists in administering highly specialized therapy with complex technological
equipment and demonstrates a high degree of autonomy in performing immediate, accurate patient assessments and appropriate nursing interventions.
• Assesses, plans and implements nursing care of the patient recovering from moderate sedation and anesthesia, utilizing special skills, knowledge and judgment in observing, reporting and responding to symptoms and condition of patients and adheres to established philosophy, policies and procedures.
ADDITIONAL REQUIRED COMPONENTS:
Employee maintains competencies (position specific and hospital-wide) required for the specific patient population served.
Performs all duties in accordance with safety and other laws, rules, and regulations set forth by appropriate regulatory and government agencies and in accordance with established department and hospital policies and procedures.
May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the department manager or supervisor.
The nature of the tasks/responsibilities required of employees in this position will likely expose them to blood and body fluids. Employees will be oriented to and required to understand and follow the standard precautions for infection control. A summary list of tasks and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Equivalent to a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, current licensure by the
Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
2. BSN is required for this role
3. Graduate of accredited school within the last 2 years from date of application
4. American Heart Association Basic Life Support, certification required
5. American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support; certification preferred and required within 12 weeks of hire
6. American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support; certification preferred,
required within six months of hire

BID Milton will pay $5,000 (in three payments over a year) to hired candidates for this position. Candidates will receive $2,000 on the pay period following the competition of the 12-week cohort program, $1,500 once they reach six months of employment, and $1,500 one year following hire date.

Important Details:

·Employees applying internally from within BID Milton or another BILH entity are not eligible for this signing bonus program.

·Re-hires may receive signing bonuses if they terminated their employment with BID Milton more than a year before new hire date. This includes students, volunteers and interns who have worked (paid or unpaid) at BID Milton

·New employees must be in good standing at the bonus payout dates to receive payout.

·Candidates who are referred by a current employee will receive their bonus as part of the employee referral program. Candidates may not receive both a signing bonus and a referral bonus.

·Bonus eligible jobs are subject to change based on the hospital's hiring needs and will be determined by Human Resources on an ongoing basis. HR reserves the right to change the bonus eligible jobs at any time. Additionally, all payouts are subject to standard state and federal tax withholdings and are processed through payroll.
