TRC’s client is a leader in precision tools and processing equipment looking for a Customer Engineer to join their growing team in the Morrisville, NC area on a full-time, direct hire basis.
As a part of the Engineering Support Group, you will support installed tool sets and develop new solutions to meet customer needs and increase customer satisfaction. As a Customer Engineer, you will solve complex problems on precision manufacturing equipment utilizing your high level of technical expertise. Main responsibilities of this position will include sustaining technical support, new product development & process improvement, and various administrative tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Install, maintain, and repair laser saws, blade dicing saws, and backside grinding tool sets at customer sites to maximize tool uptime.
-Respond to customer technical inquiries on spare parts, consumables, equipment troubleshooting, etc.
-Work closely with customer maintenance and engineering staff on equipment maintenance and repair issues; interface with internal support teams to resolve difficult technical issues.
-Assure completion of warranty modifications and customer training as required.
-Work closely with customer R&D and engineering staff to support customer new product development and process improvement; interface with internal sales and applications staff to develop “best solutions” that exceed customer requirements.
-Support customers’ trial evaluation and initial qualification of products.
-Coordinate activities of visiting sales and technical staff in support of new product development and process improvement efforts.
-Submit daily metric and method changes applied to improve on metrics.
-Maintain action item lists for important and outstanding issues with customers and any follow-ups required.
-Travel frequently to active customer sites typically located throughout the U.S. with potential for international travel (Japan and Costa Rica).
REQUIREMENTS
-4-year engineering degree, or equivalent work experience in electrical or mechanical field
-2+ years of work experience with scientific or production equipment
-Prior lab experience creating experiment design plans and executing detailed experimental trials, including recording data and producing comprehensive reports
-Strong mechanical aptitude; technically savvy and effective using various tools / equipment
-Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to collaborate and work effectively in both individual and cross-functional team based environments
