Job Title: HPLC Lab Technician

Job Summary:

Focuses on analytical laboratory activities for specific testing involving HPLC; in addition, participation in a variety of food quality control analytical/microbiological support activities is required. Work is performed through the application of a body of knowledge related to standard laboratory methods, practices, procedures, policies, regulations, and laboratory materials and equipment.

 

Job Description:

  • Operates and maintains HPLC units (5).
  • In addition to prepping and running samples following established protocol, responsible for maintaining instruments, calibrating, and following maintenance regimen.
  • Prepare eluent and required reagents.
  • Responsible for accuracy in the preparation of reagents, eluents, and standards.
  • Performs chemical and physical analyses on a variety of samples, including food products and intermediate samples.
  • Tests include but are not limited to organoleptic evaluations, pH, acidity titrations, sodium, nitrate/nitrite analyses, Brix, moisture, specific gravity, moisture, pulp content, etc.
  • Performs required calculations and posts/maintains required spreadsheets.
  • Performs microbiological analyses on a variety of products, following required aseptic techniques in media prep, sample collection, plating and bacteria identification.
  • Logs samples and related pertinent information. Follows appropriate documentation and record-keeping procedures.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field, with further education being advantageous.
  • Experience in scientific research and laboratory work may be advantageous.
  • Proficiency with computers and scientific equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
