Rebecca School is a developmental program that utilizes the DIRFloortime method, a relationship-based model of teaching instruction developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan. Rebecca School is opening a new location in Mount Vernon, NY for the 2024 school year and is seeking an Art Teacher to work with students age 3 to 21 with neurodevelopmental delays in relating, communicating and thinking. As an Art Teacher, you will develop lesson plans that allow students to express and explore emotions, ideas and passions. Rebecca School North is an expansion of the Rebecca School in NYC after 18 successful years of serving students with neurodevelopment delays in relating and communicating.
Pay Range is $53,000 to $75,000 depending on degree and experience (based on 12-month position)
RESPONSIBILITIES | WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Provide art education services to each classroom once per week
- Administer art projects that work on students' development through the creative process using a variety of mediums and materials
- Develop lessons that carry over topics from classroom curriculum (math and literacy)
- Collaborate and coordinate art education goals with classroom teams
- Maintain materials, safety and cleanliness in the art room
- Decorate school building/hallways with students' artwork
- Participate in weekly teacher meetings, team meetings, Greenspan meetings and supervision meetings
- Maintain professional competence by attending staff development programs and continuing education programs
- Ensure safety of students
QUALIFICATIONS | WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's Degree
- NY State Certification
- Experience with the DIRFloortime method (or open to learning it)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with students, staff and parents
