Senior Network Engineer, Sr Associate

Dallas, United States of America

The Senior Network Engineer - Sr. Associate position is responsible for building, operating, and maintaining the Santander WAN/LAN network while working closely with peer team members and end users in offices, campuses, and data centers.  Primary duties include general network operations, implementation of new solutions, performance troubleshooting and technical leadership of incident calls to resolve network problems. 

The Senior Network Engineer reviews and interprets monitoring and reporting tools that measure network performance, manages business SLAs, and furnishes monthly KPI/KRI metrics. S/he amends existing metrics, develops, and implements new metrics and reporting as technologies and services evolve.  S/he reviews and approves technical and project status reports, develops mitigation or remediation plans, and suggests improvements.  S/he ensures that efficient, cost-effective technology solutions are developed and deployed to align with enterprise architectures and best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages daily infrastructure operations tasks to ensure the highest availability of the network.
  • Drives improvement of architecture and process to ensure efficient and secure IT environment.
  • Excels in leadership of Incident, Problem and Escalation management.
  • Ensures that business and IT teams are aligned in all support expectations and SLAs.
  • Coordinates changes to the network environment with other IT departments and change management teams according to established company practices.
  • Performs fault isolation and resolution methodically and thoroughly to final disposition.
  • Executes network device life-cycle management functions as a key responsibility.
  • Rotates in a 24x7 on-call support with other team members.

Key Technical Qualifications:

  • Experience designing and operating networks incorporating BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, MPLS, DMVPN, SDWAN, VRFs, route redistribution/filtering and traffic engineering.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches, switch stacking technologies, spanning tree (R-PVST / PVST protocols), MLAG, MEC, vPC, peer links.
  • Experience with network management applications and related protocols such as SNMPv3, NetFlow, SolarWinds, Wireshark, NetScout, Cisco Prime and DNA-C.
  • Experience with Cisco wireless networking technologies including wireless LAN controllers, access points and the 802.11 protocol suite.
  • Understanding of, and experience with Information Security concepts for core network infrastructure and data transport including IPsec, MACSec, GRE Tunnels, Access Control Lists, 802.1x MAB (MAC Authentication Bypass) NAC, Cisco ISE, TACACS+ and RADIUS.
  • Holds valid, current Cisco certifications - CCNP, CCDA and CCDP are desirable.

Education: bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Work Experience: 9+ years relevant experience in enterprise network administration and large-scale infrastructure operations.
