Actalent is Hiring a Lab Technician

Description:
Performs sensory, physical, and chemical tests on finished products to assure they meet established specifications
Evaluates Bill of Material (BOM) for completeness and proper documentation.
Records test data and maintains laboratory work list in LIMS system to assure timely release of finished products.
Reports nonconformance with immediate corrective actions in LIMS system.
Performs required inspection for manufacturing equipment, storage equipment, and sanitation cleaning.
Participates in check sample program with outside institution(s) and in internal proficiency program to verify accuracy.
Follows proper GMPs and GLPs.
Uses proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary.
Assists with Raw Material testing, COA review, and COA filing as needed.
Inspect Finished Product Packaging to ensure label and configurations are correct
Approve and apply final wrap with automated equipment
Other duties as assigned
Candidate will be required to perform wet chemistry product testing, equipment inspections and perform audits. They will spend 70% of their day performing testing in the laboratory (salt, viscosity, bicarb test, displacement test, moisture, surface color, UV-Vis, HPLC, antioxidant testing, Fat CEM Rapid Analyzer, Micro testing - Kjeldahl, test protein) and 30% on the floor (manufacturing/shipping) doing inspections, procedural audits, making sure following GMPs, and checking
labels before the product goes out.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Food Science/Chemistry or Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience (minimum of 6 months) in a Laboratory or food company or Associates degree with 2 years’ experience in a food processing company with exposure to quality assurance/control/testing
Able to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to communicate with individuals and small groups.
Ability to read, write, understand and speak English Language
