Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties trouble shooting training and making work flow recommendations.
Position Responsibilities: Experience doing blood draws labeling specimens centrifuging specimens recording maintenance data and decontamination updating patient information etc. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture blood drawing and or other specimen collection ex. urine or fecal as required. Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label centrifuge split and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100 correct. Package specimens for transport. Stores specimen sample according to required temperature places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube accurately labels follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications: Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states. Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED 2-4 years of experience Vaccine requirements: Flu is required- medical or religious exemption is accepted. Declination form required. Address: 5151 N 9th Ave Pensacola FL 32504 Shift is a true overnight position, 7pm-7:30am. Typical rotation is Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday....off until the following Thursday. Phlebotomy (HM is not interested in candidates that only have Plasma Phleb experience. Only interested in true hospital experience phlebotomy candidates) High School Diploma or GED 5-7 years of experience Certified candidates preferred. Temp-to-perm possible/ preferred At the point of conversion LabCorp could offer between $19-$20.25 including shift differential depending on experience. Please keep offers closer to these rates. ($17-$18 base pay and 2.25 shift differential for third shift) (Fast paced, busy, crucial critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and being able to work independently.) After meeting with HM she has explained that for this third shift role we were able to gather information on the resumes HM is interested in: -Previous Hospital experience is required. (Please withdraw candidates without hospital experience/ only plasma experience) -Previous overnight experience at a hospital- HM is prioritizing resumes with previous third shift hospital experience/ third shift experience. -Local and close to Pensacola FL or close to Pensacola- HM is not going to want to interview candidates from Mobile AL due to the commute being 51 minutes and is typically much longer due to traffic- candidates from Mobile almost never work out. (Please withdraw candidates from Mobile AL, and withdraw candidates that commute longer than 35-43 minutes from Pensacola.)
