LSF is looking for a talented Sexual Abuse Treatment Counselor who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.

Purpose & Impact:

The purpose of the Sexual Abuse Treatment Counselor is to provide specialized sexual and physical abuse treatment to include individual, group and family counseling.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide specialize sexual and physical abuse treatment to victims of abuse and their families.
  • Provide intake assessment, psycho/social, suicide risk assessment.
  • Provide family orientation/education.
  • Provide individual counseling services.
  • Provide group counseling to victims and non-offending caregivers.
  • Provide family counseling.
  • Provide case management.
  • Provide expert testimony in court.
  • Fulfill necessary administrative duties as needed.
  • Establish goals and objectives for individual and group programs.
  • Advocate for clients with community agencies, courts, DCF, FFN, schools, etc.
  • Participate in community outreach programs.
  • Available to travel for training.
  • Participate and provide staff/professional/community training.
  • Other duties reasonably assigned by the Program Coordinator and the office of the Regional Director.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to use phone, sit for long periods of time, write case notes and file.
  • Ability to perform CPR and crisis intervention if needed, as trained.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance

Education:

  • Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Social Work, or related field required. Licensure Preferred.  

Experience:

  • One to three (1-3) years' experience in adolescent and family counseling, facilitating group sessions and performing intake, psycho/social/risk assessments.
  • Experience working with victims of abuse.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and their families. 

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Must be well organized.
  • Able to work and communicate effectively with clients, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other agencies and the general public.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
  • Good organizational, verbal and written skills.
  • Dependability, discretion and good judgment.
  • Team player with co-workers and administrators.
  • Accurate, complete and timely documentation of client cases and related data.
  • Adherence to all licensing and quality assurance standards.
  • Adherence to agency policies and procedures.
