Job Summary

The Privacy Operations Executive Director will play a pivotal role in our organization, leading our privacy strategy and operations to ensure the highest standards of privacy and data protection. Reporting to the Vice President of Product Security and Privacy, this individual will oversee a team of privacy professionals and work closely with various departments to embed privacy by design into our products, services, and processes. This leader will mature the Privacy Development Lifecycle and provide overall privacy operations leadership for the Legal-Privacy organization by partnering with product and engineering teams to apply and adapt solutions to meet privacy needs. The role involves broad exposure to Comcast businesses and technologies, working collaboratively across Comcast Cybersecurity teams to ensure Comcast meets or exceeds legal privacy obligations.

Job Description

What You Deliver

  • Lead and manage a team of privacy professionals, setting clear objectives, mentoring, and guiding the team towards excellence in privacy operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Cybersecurity, Legal, Compliance, and business units, to ensure the integration of privacy by design and default across all parts of the business.
  • Oversee the remediation of issues identified through privacy impact assessments, privacy threat models and other privacy assessments.
  • Foster a culture of privacy awareness and compliance throughout the organization through targeted training and communication initiatives.
  • Develop and establish Privacy Development Lifecycle practices
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise across all aspects of privacy controls including assessing risk, evaluating technical controls/operations, and partnering with product and engineering teams to develop solutions
  • Detect and remediate privacy problems
  • Develop measures to implement privacy requirements into product development
  • Drive progress on initiatives requiring updates to data privacy
  • Develop relationships with key cross functional partners across the enterprise to inform and help develop a consistent design that drives progress on data privacy
  • Keep internal leadership and cross functional stakeholders up to date with key feedback and action items.

  • Work with privacy counsel to translate legal guidance into actionable plans for executing privacy requirements into product development
  • Review data flows to ensure proper accountability of Personal Information
  • Demonstrate the ability to quickly grasp complex subjects. Apply strong analytical skills and technical knowledge.
  • Stay current on relevant business risks (e.g., current events, emerging technologies, cyber security, etc.) and determine where appropriate to apply to initiatives
  • Show flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks or stepping in to support execution, as appropriate

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in privacy, data protection, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CIPT) is highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of global and regional data protection laws and regulations, privacy technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Proven track record of leading privacy operations and initiatives in a complex, global organization.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor, motivate, and lead a diverse team of professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels within the organization.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of Privacy Engineering and Agile methodologies

Education

Bachelor's Degree

While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
