The Opportunity

As a dedicated Business Risk and Controls Advisor, you will monitor adherence to account closures, account reimbursements, account charge offs, charge off reconciliations, and bank fraud recoveries. The controls monitor for SLO adherence and accuracy of worked performed by members of the Non Card Fraud Recovery Specialists. The control performance will be related to Non Card Fraud Recovery processes. Ideally, you will have control experience within the fraud space.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position OR This position can work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.

What you'll do:

  • Lead routine deliverables in support of risk and/or regulatory compliance related initiatives: oversight of procedures/process, accurate regulatory reporting and filing, document governance, risk control self-assessments, procedure governance, control design, new product controls, CoSA Third Party Governance, or quality governance.

  • Perform ongoing supervision of established business controls and applies maturing knowledge to perform root cause analyses, testing coordination and seeks guidance from team members to evaluate the effectiveness of established business controls.

  • Perform risk data analysis, report preparation and trend analysis, applying business intelligence tools.

  • Learn to translate control deficiencies into action plans. Provide to the enhancement of governance practices in alignment with risk and compliance frameworks.

  • Partner with business owners to assist them in the identification of control failures and assesses the impact.

  • Participate in the remediation of control deficiencies through action plan coordination and support.

  • Counsel senior management on the status of their control environment related to risk identification and control weaknesses, as appropriate.

  • Follow documented processes to raise issues and findings to appropriate partners.

  • Acquire and apply a developing knowledge of changes to the regulatory environment to ensure proper compliance with processes and requirements are followed.

  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum 2 years' experience supporting risk-related, compliance-related or business control design activities; OR 2 years of experience in a relevant quantitative field; OR Advanced degree or designation in a risk management or quantitative field.

What sets you apart:

  • Experience working with Bank Fraud Related controls.

  • 2+ years of fraud specific related experience.

  • 2+ years of deposit product(s) related experience i.e. checking, savings etc.

  • Good understanding of bank regulations, primarily around Reg E.

  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $61,110.00 - $116,800.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
