GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the management of patient care, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient outcomes. The nurse directs and guides the delivery of nursing care, patient education, and all care related activities, while maintaining standards of professional nursing collaborating with other disciplines as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Skills Required:
1. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
2. Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
3. Meets requirements of physical/pre-placement screening.
4. Completion of Cardiac Rhythm Course within nine (9) months.
5. Completion and maintenance of Oncology Nurses Society (ONS) course/Chemotherapy Biotherapy Administration within 1 year of hire or transfer to unit.
o Must complete yearly chemotherapy administration competency. Must work a minimum of 1,000 hours yearly caring for Oncology patients on R5 OR will need to complete 8 hours of education yearly in the FCC with trained Chemotherapy Infusion RN in order to hold Chemotherapy Biotherapy Provider certificate. These requirements are to ensure Chemotherapy administration skills are up to date.

As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.
