Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall security and safety of the Six Flags Great Escape Resort.
  • Hiring, supervising, and evaluation of seasonal team members assigned to Public Safety.
  • Supervision of the Public Safety communications center.
  • Implementation and maintenance of Corporate Public Safety standards and programs.
  • Supervise and perform loss prevention, security, and safety functions
  • Conduct and/or coordinate all Public Safety training programs.
  • Maintain assigned inventories (radios, keys, etc.)
  • Maintenance of records retention program
  • Conduct and coordinate required facility and equipment inspections (i.e. fall protection equipment, life safety equipment, ride inspections, 3rd party inspections, etc.)
  • Conduct required investigations following accidents, incidents, injuries, etc.
  • Serve as “Manager on Duty” as assigned
  • Responsible for enforcing all Resort rules, as well as ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal laws.
  • Responsible for the Resort’s building security and access control systems.
  • Establish/maintain relationships with local police, fire and emergency medical organizations.
  • Maintain a friendly, clean and safe environment for guests and team members.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in severe weather conditions (rain, snow, wind, cold/heat)
  • For safety purposes, the individual must be able to communicate effectively in the English language, including the ability to read, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to actively and effectively communicate with large groups of guests.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of Resort and departmental operating procedures.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays within the limits of applicable Federal, State and facility labor laws and guidelines. Position is required to be “on call” for emergency situations.
  • Must pass applicable background screening.
  • Must have a high school degree or equivalency.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid New York State security guard license
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong motivational and leadership and organizational skills.
  • Possess good report writing skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft ™ Office products and general knowledge of computers.
  • Must be comfortable with emergency response and preparedness.

 

Preferred (but not required) Skills and Qualifications at Time of Hire:

  • Post high school degree preferred but not required, specializing in criminal justice or similar related experience.
  • New York State EMT certification
  • Prior experience in law enforcement, security, loss prevention, fire service, EMS and/or safety fields
  • Training and/or experience in incident management and mitigation
  • ServSafe® Food Handling or Manager Certification (required within 1 year of hire)
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification (required within 1 year of hire)
