Job Summary:

The Director of Business Growth is a critical role for the team and this colleague will develop long term growth strategy for multiple business segments at Sysco.  

Work with the Sysco leadership team, enterprise strategy counterparts, and business leads to move forward the strategy, identify key priorities and choices that allow Sysco to deliver as part of the business strategy, and manage trade-offs required to realize vision

Support high-priority areas in our Sysco business unit, including conducting analysis on key competitors and potential sources of disruption; framing and structuring disparate ideas and information to make them concrete and actionable

Conduct both quantitative and qualitative analyses to evaluate new market opportunities for the enterprise that extend beyond our current businesses, and develop associated business cases and recommendations for senior executives

Evaluate key organizational questions to ensure our company is best positioned to deliver on our commitments to customers, clients, and shareholders

Research emerging solutions and work with internal stakeholders to determine business rationale for adoption, potential value, and tradeoffs associated with developing new or improved digital

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop growth strategy and 3-year strategic plan for our multiple business segments. Transform the foodservice industry with best in class customer innovation
  • Lead initiatives to drive acquisition and penetration of customers by leveraging both sales channel and direct to consumer channel
  • Lead a team to make recommendation on best solution from customer and business perspective including content creation and end to end customer journey mapping. Present on growth roadmap to ELT including CEO to drive key transformation initiatives.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree

Education Preferred:

  • MBA

Experience Required:

  • At least 4-6 years experience post MBA
  • Engagement manager or equivalent level experience with top-tier management consulting firms with significant work in development and execution of growth, Go to Market and/or commercial strategy

Experience Preferred:

  • Experience in food service and B2B industries preferred but not required

  • Ability to think strategically and tactically from customer perspective
  • Ability to structure unique problems and lead cross-functional teams in a way that enables the organization to make significant progress quickly
  • Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and presentation skills
  • Proven experience to get work done in a complex matrix organization
  • Strong ability to manage ambiguity and guide the organization through it towards clear and decisive action plans
  • Ability to understand and manage P&L
  • Strong project leadership and management background
  • Proven success in change management
  • Proven ability to establish credibility and influence executive-level stakeholders as well as the ability to work across boundaries and lead through influence
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Leader/doer with the ability to operate effectively and influence others in a matrix organization
  • Excellent pattern recognition and predictive modeling skills
  • Self-starter with a strong ability to lead and develop a new team
  • Experience in a startup-like environment and ability to foresee the needs of the organization, plan accordingly and direct the team to achieve quick wins and long term success
  • Professional attitude, service orientation, strong work ethic; superb team player
  • Excels in nebulous environments where the path to address a problem is not always clear or direct
  • Approaches every problem with an outside-in perspective first and does not allow the status quo to influence your analysis
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
