Maintenance Tech

Monte Package Company, a Bunzl company, is seeking a Maintenance Tech for its Riverside, MI location. Primary duties include providing safe preventive maintenance, installation, service, repair, timely electrical support, troubleshooting and resolution of multiple operating machines within a light manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have mechanical and electrical experience and have basic troubleshooting experience with proven ability of machine repair.  Position Purpose is to set up, make running adjustments, repairs, diagnose problems, and monitor equipment to maximize efficiency of all Monte Package Company labeling and box forming machines.

Responsibilities:

• Examine machinery and equipment for defects in operation- repair and replace defective equipment parts using hand and power tools
• Utilize mechanical skills to maintain machinery
• Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run at expected operational levels
• Clean and lubricate moving parts of equipment and/or machinery
• Contribute to a collaborative safety culture that drives results
• Provide rapid response to ensure optimum speed, quality, and seamless productivity of high-speed packaging machines
• Assist and backup label machine operations as needed
• Maintain appropriate spare parts and supplies for tool room and general maintenance area
• Maintain high quality and production standards
• Operate forklift when needed
• General facility maintenance as needed
• Supports and participates in continuous improvement initiatives including 5S (sort, set, shine, standardize, and sustain)
• Facilitate manufacturer repairs as needed

Requirements:

• High School Diploma required
• 3-5 years (preferred) operational knowledge of automated light industrial machinery which includes motors, belts, pumps, drives, relays
• A general understanding of machinery, rotary assemblies, glue systems and labeling devices
• Troubleshooting and problem solving abilities
• Practical, mechanical, and electrical aptitude including electrical schematic diagrams
• Some knowledge of the various types of sensors and limit switches including conducting fault analyses
• Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word and Excel preferred
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Self-starter with the ability to multitask
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment in a mature and professional manner; capable of changing direction of tasks quickly
• Ability to work flexible hours, overtime/weekends when needed
• Ability to squat, push, pull and lift (up to 50lbs) with or without reasonable accommodation
• Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication)
• Forklift Certification preferred/willingness to become forklift certified
• Ability to use computerized controls
• Provide training, when needed, to employees of safe operation of machinery
• Ability to travel 10-15% of the time, as needed
