For many people, access to quality dental services is challenging. Some may face language barriers, while others lack transportation, childcare or insurance that make it easy to visit a dentist.

The Dental Community Health Worker provides support for students and their families when they have unmet dental needs. This may include helping the family with insurance, transportation or language support to get connected to comprehensive dental care. Additionally, the Dental Community Health Worker provides classroom education to instill good oral habits in young students.

Pay Range:

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour/DOE

Examples of work:

  • Work within the Capitol Dental Care outreach team
  • Address social, environmental and health literacy for families
  • Coordinate and provide effective dental health education
  • Help patients/families navigate the complex oral health care system
  • Provide support for families in making and keeping dental appointments
  • Coordinate and participate in school staff in-services and other community events as directed
  • Coordinate individualized oral care plans for students who have intellectual and or developmental disabilities

  • Compassionate service-oriented individual
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish)
  • Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to gather and analyze data
  • Must be able to work independently on assigned tasks

ADDITIONAL/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of dental terminology preferred.
  • Understand the rural communities served.
  • Certified Community Health Worker with the Oregon Health Authority preferred, but training available
