Position Summary:

The Controller is to assist the hospital Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in safeguarding hospital assets and ensuring the financial statements, including the books and records, are prepared and maintained in accordance with GAAP.  Like the CFO, the Controller is responsible for ensuring compliance with company financial and accounting policies and procedures and also ensuring internal controls are effective in both design and operation, including the routine monitoring of controls.  The Controller is to ensure the monthly close deadlines are timely met, account reconciliation and supporting documentation is maintained for all activities, account analysis is performed, prepares various packages as requested (e.g., cost report, tax, etc.), and to assist in various projects as requested. The Controller is to assist the CFO who is responsible for the identification and independent assessment of financial risk, establishment and monitoring of mitigation plans, and for the communication of financial risk and opportunity to the regional CFO and hospital CEO.  The Controller is to assist the CFO in the monitoring of the financial performance and the maintenance of reasonable and appropriate financial plans and forecasts. Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree, major concentration in Accounting/Finance is required

Experience:

Previous experience in finance is required

Previous managerial experience is preferred

Experience in a hospital setting is preferred

Licensure/Certification

CPA is preferred

Other Abilities/Aptitudes - Required:

Ability to use computerized spreadsheets to conduct analyzes.

Ability to analyze data and prepare projections based on current trends and history.

Knowledge of GAAP Standards and Federal Regulations.

Knowledge of state stales tax and reporting requirements.

Excellent oral/written communication skills.
