Higginbotham Brothers dates to 1881, when the company opened its first general store in Texas. Today, Higginbotham Brothers supplies professional builders, remodelers and do-it-yourselfers with lumber and a deep catalog of specialty building products, including hardware, windows, doors, plumbing materials and interior/exterior paint, from its 40 locations across Texas and Oklahoma.

Position Overview

The Ope ra t i on s S upervisor supervises and coordinates activities of Ope ra t i on s Coordinators and Leads.

Pay Range: $50,000 annually

Essential Job Duties

  • Oversee all work activities of functional area.
  • Establish work schedule and develop cost effective plan to meet store ope ra t i on s goals.
  • Schedule and coordinate deliveries and/ or pick-ups. Coordinate this schedule with sales and shipping departments.
  • Maintain equipment and machinery.
  • Work to ensure a safe work environment and encourages adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Prepare and verify reports as applicable.
  • Supervise personnel and ensure adherence to department/ company policies and procedures.
  • Perform personnel management duties including training, hiring, terminating, performance management, and departmental wage recommendations.
  • Maintain inventory of respective area.
  • Monitor the safety of the work area and ensures adherence to the guidelines.
  • Monitor costs of assigned area.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.


Criteria for Supervisor

  • Supervises 4 or more associates (direct & indirect reports)
  • Budgeting responsibilities (may or may not have full P&L accountability)
  • Hire/fire input
  • Goal setting & communication (directly or relaying from management)
  • Provide performance feedback


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum education required - High School Diploma.
  • Minimum experience required - 2 years of experience supervising workers and work groups in a related work environment (i.e., warehouse, lumber yard, etc.) Supervising a workforce of 15 to 50 subordinates.
  • Special skills required - Ability to develop, promote and maintain good customer relations. Ability to maintain good housekeeping and safe working environment. Must have a good understanding of OSHA requirements. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Physical demands include standing and walking for extended periods of time, bending or stooping, regularly lifting 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds or more on occasion, and work in extreme weather conditions. Criteria for Supervisor
