This job is no longer available- Our client, an Industrial Automation company, is seeking Tooling Designers to join their team. As a Tooling Designer, you will be part of the Engineering Team supporting Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.  5+ years’ experience designing with Siemens NX CAD software is a must. This is a contract assignment. Tool designers only. Product designers will not be submitted for consideration.
Job Title: NX Tooling Designer
Location: Southfield, MI
Pay: $30-$35/hr. plus OT,
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
- Modify existing 3D and 2D models for “Kits” and create new designs for simple and intermediate and complex systems. Develop Kit Sheet showing before and after.
- Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems. Drive and understand customer specifications both corporate and plant and apply Comau standards for use in all aspects of mechanical designs.
- Strong Fixture and Detail stack up methodology and how it relates to machining and tool stack up.
- Familiar with NAAMS Standards, Customer Standards, Attributes in cad file, using Cad Check options.
Requirements
- Mechanical Designer I / Senior, for Body Shop Tooling of Body in White Assembly
- Approximately 10 years of experience
- NX cad skills and knowledge of North American Auto Manufacturer standards and specifications for Body in White Tooling Fixtures.
- Strong understanding of Body Assembly, GEO (geometry setting)and Fixture Tools for Framing lines, Bodyside Systems and Sub Assembly for tooling fixture design.
- Strong knowledge of auto assembly strategies (i.e. part flow within an assembly plant / body Shop),
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, Fixtures, tools, and controls, using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
