Position Overview

The Str ike r / Stocker has the opportunity to learn the building materials business and our branch operation by supporting drivers with deliveries, working in the warehouse, and rec e iving, loading and unloading material in the yard and delivery site.

Essential Job Duties

  • Adhere to established safety rules and regulations and follow all safety procedures; maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Pull, stage, and load orders onto outgoing trucks and at customer site as di rec ted.
  • Aid Driver in inspecting materials scheduled for delivery to confirm that the shipment is cor rec t and that it is properly loaded and secured.
  • Ride with the driver to the job site to unload product at jobsite.
  • Assist driver in evaluating delivery site, noting potential hazards, obstacles, physical challenges, etc.; guide driver in maneuvering onto and off customer's property to avoid damage as needed.
  • Handle materials off conveyor and stack material as di rec ted.
  • Support driver in maintaining a clean and safe vehicle.
  • Assist warehouse associates and di rec t supervisor in maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
  • Rec e ive in-coming products, commodities and materials; stock all material rec e ived in appropriate bins or storage locations.
  • Operate forklift with foot and hand controls in a safe manner to complete orders onto delivery equipment.


  • Treat customers, contractors, and associates in a courteous, considerate, and cooperative manner.
  • Retain an awareness of the work environment critical to the task at hand to produce error free and damage free results.
  • Participates in a positive work environment
  • Provides Excellent Customer Service
  • Participates in and completes assigned trainings .
  • Complies with all company policies and guidelines (replaces attendance statement)
  • Other duties as assigned by Management


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum education preferred- High School or GED preferred.
  • Minimum experience preferred - 1 to 2 years as str ike r / roof loader or stocker; 1 year warehouse experience. Forklift operation and license is preferred.
  • Other - Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast pace , ever changing environment.
  • Ability to work in heights ranging from ground level to elevation
  • Physical demands include standing, walking or sitting for extended periods of time, bending or stooping, lifting up to 100 pounds consistently and working in adverse weather conditions.
  • Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
  • Ability to do basic math, read orders, write in str uctions and complete forms.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills .
  • Ability to deal con str uctively with conflict and rec ognize potential problems.
  • Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies ( e.g. Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications).
