This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to continue working in the animal research field and build upon their leadership skills! This role will serve as both a Laboratory Animal Research Technician and a Training Coordinator, where duties will be split about 50/50 between the lab/animal research side, and the training side. There is ample opportunity for continued growth long-term through various promotion opportunities.

An ideal candidate for this role will have a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science (or related), at least 2+ years of animal research experience, and some form of leadership experience (can be formal or informal leadership - meaning your job title does not necessarily have to be "Lead, Supervisor, Trainer, etc."). Job duties are listed below.

Job Duties:

  • Organize and set up training classes, including ordering and maintaining supplies/equipment needed for training.
  • Create and update SOP’s, training documents, and courses for both online and hands on training.
  • Assist investigators and veterinarians in method development and implementation of such methods through training within the labs.
  • Provide training and validation for staff regarding their duties and tasks when working with Animals throughout the different labs.
  • Provide training to investigators and research staff on routine research techniques (i.e. restraint, blood sampling, anesthesia, euthanasia) and/or utilizes and schedules Subject Matter Experts to provide this training.
  • Manage accounts with professional and educational institutions, and assist with the veterinarian and veterinary technician licensing and credentialing process.
  • Ensure compliance with AAALAC standards and position statements
  • Utilize and help to develop electronic methods for documentation of training (Training Tracker), document all training events and personnel in attendance.
  • Follow up with individuals that are absent from training events and ensure they receive the proper training as necessary.
  • Assist Animal Research Core management in assuring husbandry operations and veterinary care remains in compliance with company SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assists in preparing for regulatory body site visits and semiannual inspections by preparing the assigned areas for inspection and participating in inspection walk through.
  • 50/50 Split of working with the animals in the lab and husbandry, and developing trainings and running trainings within the core in an office and lab setting

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science or a related field.
  • Must have at least 2+ years of animal research experience.
  • Must have some leadership or training experience.
