We are immediately hiring for an Entry-Level Lab Technician here in the Columbus, Ohio area! This is a long-term career opportunity and offers a great chance to get your foot in the door or to gain professional experience in a laboratory setting. The current openings we have will be performing laboratory testing on paint products and will be light chemistry focused.

These are entry-level openings looking for a candidate with a Bachelors or potentially Associates degree focused in a scientific discipline. We would also be open to considering someone without a degree who has professional laboratory experience. There will be hands on training in the role as well.

Description:

The Lab Technician performs each essential duty safely, satisfactorily, and in a timely manner. Primary duties may include:

  • Understand and follow a batch ticket (recipe) with high degree of accuracy for weights and measurements.
  • Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes on production batches to measure product’s physical or chemical characteristics. Tests include, but are not limited to: viscosity, weight per unit of measure, flow, gloss, color characteristics (compared with standards), and various other similar tests. Will also perform color matching and use a spectrophotometer for color matching and to test the standards.
  • Test on materials from suppliers and batches from production
  • Perform standard testing procedures, including prep of materials, with attention to detail and high quality
  • Accurately document work in lab notebooks (either physical or electronic)
  • Ensure raw materials are available and correctly labelled
  • Tint batches
  • Calculate resin composites
  • Testing on lab equipment-viscosity, pH, weight per gallon, % solids

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelors' or Associates' Degree in a scientific field or can be non-degreed with professional laboratory experience
