Our client — specializing in engineering and automation solutions with an emphasis on electrical, instrumentation and controls systems for a wide variety of industries and applications — is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join their growing team!

As a Sr. Controls Engineer, you will lead a team of engineers in identifying requirements, developing specifications, and implementing, testing, commissioning, and qualifying automation solutions. This is a leadership role within the organization and requires a high level of attention to detail and problem-solving ability and project management execution experience.

Job Title: Sr. Controls Engineer.
Location: Wilmington, MA.
Salary: $130,000-$145,000/yr. (years of experience considered).
Remote work: Not available.
Citizenship: U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, H1B and/or TN Visa candidates acceptable.
Travel: 10-25%.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Interact directly with customers.
  • Lead a team of engineers in implementing high-quality automation solutions.
  • Demonstrate success by securing repeat work with both new and existing customers.
  • Develop control system architecture, select components to be used, detail schematic diagrams and system documentation, program controllers (PLC, DCS, RTU), program process visualization (HMI / SCADA).
  • Leverage knowledge of controller programming languages such as Ladder, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text, and others 
  • Project Management responsibilities:
    • Developing project execution plans, work breakdown structures, budgeting, time tracking, reporting, financial tracking, etc.
    • Overseeing daily operations and activities of projects valued up to $1 million. 
    • Ensure overall profitability of the project.

Qualifications Desired:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer Science or similar).
  • Greater than 10+ years' experience, ideally.
  • Strong knowledge of S88 Batch Control (must have).
  • In-depth understanding of PLC hardware/software platforms (Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Modicon, etc.)
  • In-depth understanding of HMI/SCADA hardware/software (GE iFIX, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View, Inductive Automation's Ignition, and Siemens.
  • In-depth understanding of DCS hardware/software
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, power distribution under 480VAC, control panels, NEC
  • AutoCAD familiarity
  • Experience leading a team of engineers and technicians to provide custom system solutions
  • Life Science industry background
  • Proven experience with all phases of automation projects
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements of life sciences (cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, etc.)
  • Knowledge of IT/OT networking
  • Knowledge of automation protocols (HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Traditional I/O, Profibus, Ethernet I/P, OPC, Modbus TCP/IP, etc.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
