Position Summary:

The Director of Risk Mgmt & Compliance develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization. Investigate, mitigate, and defend claims against the organization. Responsible for RL Solutions, ComplyTrack, and compliant management to achieve performance and quality control objectives. 

Reports to the CEO (Chief Executive Officer)
FLSA Status: Exempt

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Ability to handle multiple assignments, balance priorities, make decisions quickly, and establish and maintain working relationships with a wide variety of people.
Demonstrates professional conduct in highly sensitive or volatile situations.
Demonstrates ability to assume a leadership role for patient care teams.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
Excellent knowledge of state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
Develop and implement departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
Participate in performance improvement teams and collaboratives as needed.
Support hospital initiatives in meeting core measures, patient safety, and service excellent goals, including but not limited to CMS Star Rating and Leapfrog.
Initiates skills development programs with the parameters of established care models. Monitors trends and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Demonstrates computer knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite healthcare information systems and Meditech.
Has the knowledge and ability to use measurement tools, integrate data, and prepare meaningful reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

North Carolina Registered Nurse License or compact state licensure. Bachelor’s degree (BSN) Required

A master's degree is strongly Preferred.

Required Skills:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in healthcare, safety, or risk management experience. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Strong understanding of evidence-based practices and performance improvement methodologies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and other regulatory requirements pertaining to healthcare organizations as well as ethics and compliance.

Required License/Certifications:
Certification as a Professional Healthcare Risk Manager (CPHRM) is Preferred and required within 2 years of hire.
