Description:
This is a first shift opportunity, 8am - 5pm M-F.
This position is broken down into two main responsibilities. 80% of the day is spent working on the day to day experiments (scale ups from production batches), and the other 20% will be working on long-term projects. The long term projects could be anywhere from 1 week in length to 1 month.
A typical day will start with coordinating the days tests, and evaluating what the next steps are in the long term project that they will be simultaneously working on. Majority of the testing will be designated from the lead chemist. They will assign a test with a given formula (already established with SOPs in place) and then the chemist will make it. Working alongside a Lead Chemist, this person will evaluate the formula, and consult on the next steps depending on the clients request. Some of the changes could be a different color of Epoxys, Polymers and Plastics, new standards that the epoxy or plastic may have to be tolerant to, etc., primarily for the automotive industry.
Responsibilities:
Design polyurethane formulations to meet specific performance requirements
Testing of new raw materials to improve existing products
Utilize expertise in polyurethane chemistry to troubleshoot formulation
Researching of new raw materials
Testing of physical and mechanical properties
Creating test methods for special applications
Creating lab reports and other necessary documentations
Technical support for customer complaints
Technical support for scale up, production, sales, and engineering
Preparation of customer samples
Training of Entry Level Chemist and supporting the R&D and QC team.
Testing all analytical values and provide proper documentation
report to R&D manager current product development and status of lab
Performs other duties as assigned

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
MUST HAVES:
1. Bachelor Degree in Chemistry or Bio-Chemistry
2. At least 2 years of experience in a chemistry lab
3. Strong communication skills in person and via video, phone, etc. They will be reporting to a manager in Germany so communication is key.
NICE TO HAVES:
- Adhesives experience
- Familiar with TMA, DSC, Karl Fisher
