Position Description

The Sr Production Supervisor (Dairy) is responsible for the overseeing the beverage manufacturing and packaging equipment, while supervising personnel to complete the daily production targets. Develops and leads the Plant Production team in exceeding key performance indicators for safety, environment, quality, customer service and cost. The Sr Production Supervisor (Dairy) ensures full compliance with SOPs, food safety, health and safety, administrative policies, preventive monitoring of equipment, labor reporting, process improvements, yields.

Essential Functions:

  • Leads improvement efforts to maximize plant efficiency, performance, and cost without compromising quality or safety.
  • Leads focus teams to continuously improve the operation.
  • Responsible for direct supervision and utilization of equipment, materials, and people on the production lines.
  • Adhere to all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies, health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas.
  • Participates in the development of the annual department budget & strategic long-term planning.
  • Maintains effective communication of expectations and goals throughout the plant environment.
  • Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements.
  • Conduct daily meetings with day and afternoon shift lead hands to identify and resolve issues.
  • Draft and post weekly employee schedules based on production requirements in accordance with the CBA (if applicable)
  • Ensure compliance to all OHSA and environmental regulatory and corporate standards.
  • Ensure production personnel are maintaining good housekeeping practices and end of shift cleanup is conducted daily.
  • Provides training and cross training to assure production schedules are met within budget, product specifications, quality requirements and safety standards.
  • Reviews, evaluates, counsels, disciplines employees as necessary to ensure department meets or exceeds productivity requirements.
  • Evaluates and recommends improvements to product manufacturability.
  • Back up to the Production Manager as required.

  • Additionally, this role is responsible for liaising with customers to understand their needs and ensure the delivery of high-quality products that meets their specifications.
  • Lead and supervise a production team, exercising higher decision-making authority in process optimization, resource allocation, and strategic planning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve production efficiency, monitor metrics, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for customers, understanding requirements and ensuring the timely completion of production targets and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, addressing any concerns or issues in a timely and professional manner.

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years Proven leadership in production environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Food Science, Business, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in supervision.
  • 5+ years of experience in production/manufacturing, preferably beverages.
  • Functional experience in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TPM, etc. are assets.
  • SAP prior experience a strong asset.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical - Continuously standing or walking. Regular requirements to lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight.
  • Visual/Sensory - This position requires the regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time.
  • Work environment - Work and environment are very repetitive.
  • Climate: This position requires the incumbent to have the ability to work in ambient hot and/or cold seasonal environments.
