Full Time Schedule: Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM with a rotating on call schedule

Under general supervision, the Handyman is responsible for repairing and maintaining the interior and exterior of the community per established policies, procedures, Company standards of quality, cleanliness, resident satisfaction, safety and security and regulatory agency requirements.  The Handyman demonstrates and promotes service excellence and patient confidentiality at all times. As a representative and team member of environmental services department, this position is expected to present oneself in a manner that reflects professionalism and ensures resident satisfaction.

Work Duties

  • Perform repairs to appliances and toilets, fix minor electrical issues, painting rooms, building's exterior and handle numerous other tasks.
  • Perform minor adjustments on HVAC systems, room furniture, fixtures and other items in the community;
  • Exhibit versatility to repair faulty appliances and toilets, fix minor electrical issues, remodel rooms, paint a building's exterior and handle numerous other tasks.
  • Takes note of safety concerns and needed repairs; performs repairs or reports to supervisor;
  • May fix drapery rods and/or wash windows, depending on CCRC;
  • According to assigned schedule performs various landscaping duties such as planting and mowing grass, planting and trimming hedges and shrubbery, pruning trees, trimming weeds, maintaining flower beds, raking leaves, mulching using tractors, power lawn mowers, string trimmers and various hand tools;
  • Sprays insecticide or herbicides as needed;
  • Applies fertilizer as needed;
  • Makes regular inspections of assigned areas daily for cleanliness; remove limbs, rake leaves, debris, and litter, and other hazards including those created by environmental conditions ensuring that grounds are properly maintained;
  • Monitors, maintains, and repairs irrigation system;
  • Work at height with ladders, lift, and roof top;
  • Work in inclement weather (heat, rain, snow, etc.);
  • Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Prior experience as a handyman preferred;
  • Prior experience in grounds keeping preferred.
