We have a fantastic opportunity for an HGV Fitter to join our team at our Head Offices in Abergavenny. Due to the nature of the role, we are open to applications from candidates who live in; or can commute from some of the following areas: Newport, Cardiff, Swansea, Penarth, Barry, Porthcawl, Neath, Usk, Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil, Llanfoist, Bristol, Chepstow, Pontypridd.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager, the HGV Fitter will be maintaining the LGV and HGV fleet to ensure their road worthiness.

On a day to day basis, the responsibilities of the HGV Fitter will include the following (not exhaustive):

  • Carrying out all maintenance related tasks on the fleet of LGVs & HGVs
  • Preparing and presenting LGVs & HGVs for MOT
  • Making sure defects are reported to the Transport Manager
  • Recording work on systems via tablet for work to be allocated and confirmed completed
  • Carrying out road tests on HGVs
  • Speaking to suppliers regarding parts and placing orders when necessary
  • Communicating with other team members and the parts coordinator
  • Completing task specific risk assessments on systems provided
  • Complying with RAMS for all duties
  • Attending refresher training for all qualifications to ensure competence for tasks
  • Managing Driving and Working time in accordance with all UK & EU regulations
The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an HGV Fitter who is experienced in the following:

  • Previous experience on construction related LGV/HGVs
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • NVQ (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance
  • IRTEC Award
