The Opportunity:

As a Surveyor, you will join a team of 8 as part of the Resident Services Team, reporting into a Lead Surveyor.

Offering hybrid, flexible working and covering tenancies across Blaenau Gwent.

You will be responsible for carrying out a broad range of surveying duties to enable residents to live well in their homes and estates.

This is an important customer-facing role, where you'll carry out surveys to enable future investment programs to be correctly planned and procured, manage disrepair claims and one-off projects including adaptations to ensure residents can continue to live safely and independently in the right home, resolve with boundary disputes, carry out energy surveys and carry out surveys to ensure regulatory compliance.

As a Surveyor, you'll take ownership in

  • Assisting with the implementation of the Association's Asset Management Strategy including options appraisals and financially viable innovative design solutions in line with the "Asset Management Strategic Approach" including statutory and Duty of Care compliance.
  • Assisting with the preparation and annual review of a 30-year financial plan.
  • Assisting with the preparation and annual review of a 5-year financial plan and investment programme.
  • Carrying out any duties necessary to fulfil requirements of RICS Building Surveying Competencies.
  • Managing the delivery of allocated projects in line with the "RIBA Plan of Works 2020" Stages 0 to 7 inclusive to ensure required cost, time and quality requirements are planned, monitored and met.
  • Assisting with the preparation and delivery of the decarbonisation works.
  • Providing technical advice and expert opinion on Building, Surveying and Construction related matters to staff, and stakeholders.
  • Advising and guiding colleagues working on property inspections, contract, project and property related surveying works.

Essential Requirements:

  • Educated to level 4 National Qualification Framework for England, Wales and Northern Ireland OR willing to work towards.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of building construction.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Significant experience of tendering procedures and contract administration.
  • Significant experience of programming and controlling building work.
  • Significant experience of effective cost control and budget management.
  • Significant experience of risk assessment relating to construction work.
  • Significant experience in tenant liaison.
  • Detailed knowledge of Fitness for Human Habitation and Disrepair.
