What ASEND Tuition is:

We are looking for inspirational tutors around Aylesbury to support children and young people with SEND. Many children with SEND have been disengaged with their learning. We support pupils that have struggled to stay in the classroom, who feel too anxious to go to school or whose needs aren’t sufficiently supported at school. We tutor children face to face in a range of settings including homes, schools, and community centres. The overall aim is to help them re-engage in education and return to school. You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience of working with children in a therapeutic way. One of your aims will be to support and re-engage a pupil in their learning, continue their educational development and return to school. ASEND tuition is replacing school for these young people and is normally part-time, taking place during school hours, five days a week.

Our pupils have a range of individual needs and abilities, and we work very hard to match the tutor with the child who can most benefit from their skills and expertise. We welcome people with broad ranges of backgrounds and knowledge to be able to meet the very diverse needs of our young people. Some of our tutors specialise in SEN with a focus on certain academic subjects and others work with specific behaviours related to SEN. Others have a background on childhood development. Some of our pupils who have deep-seated anxiety or mental health issues linked to their special needs work very well with tutors that are qualified Play, Art, Drama, Performance, Music, or Dance and Movement therapists.

The successful candidates will:

  • have some experience with SEN; many of our students require someone with experience in working with people who have Autism, ADHD, or Emotional and Mental Health difficulties

  • be passionate about helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement

  • be able to build a rapport and strong relationship with children and their families and with colleagues

  • ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning

  • have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils

  • use a person-centred approach in their work

  • make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that they plan and do

  • have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement in mental health and confidence.

At ASEND you will always be well supported by our highly qualified and experienced team and well-remunerated for your work.

If you are seeking a truly rewarding position and are passionate about enriching the lives of young people, then do not hesitate to apply now and one of our specialist team will review your application.

About ASEND

ASEND is a highly specialist SEND business, placing dedicated SEND professionals in school and services throughout the UK.

Since being established in 2011, ASEND has emerged amongst the forefront of leading SEND businesses and have successfully placed professionals into different schools, colleges and services across the country. Pioneers across the sector, we have helped to institute a unique and fresh approach to the teaching and learning of SEND pupils, many of whom have seen remarkable progress.

In 2019 we were asked to support our first pupil at their home because the school felt they couldn’t meet his needs any further and they stopped attending. That pupil then successfully transitioned into a new school place and we were asked to support another young person. Over the next three years we have supported children and young people across numerous London Boroughs, Local Authorities just outside London and various schools. Many of whom made it into a new school or return to their school with the support of our bespoke tutoring service.

We see ourselves as a SEND company rather than a recruitment agency. Meaning that we do more than just staffing for SEN education. Our Directors all have a unique understanding of SEND and between them share a wealth of knowledge and experience unparalleled in the field. Our team all have a passion for helping young people with SEN overcome barriers and progress. Your experience with us and our young people will therefore feel very different to what you may normally expect as a result.

Benefits:

  • Generous and competitive rates of pay

  • Opportunities for professional development

  • Friendly support and guidance to enable you to meet the individual needs of learners and to ensure that you feel confident in your position

  • Training in working with children with SEND

  • Option to arrange work around your existing schedule

  • Join a friendly and supportive team

If this sounds like a cause you can get behind, or are looking to support some of the most vulnerable young people in the UK, please apply.
