Our clientBAE Systems, a leading company in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a skilled and experienced Principal Engineer - Materials Technology (Additive Manufacturing) to join their team. This is a contract position for a duration of 12 months, based in Barrow, UK.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of materials technology strategies for additive manufacturing projects.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify and evaluate new materials for additive manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive advancements in additive manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Design and oversee qualification and validation programs for new materials and additive manufacturing capabilities.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on materials selection, testing, and performance evaluation.
  • Performing a design, development and qualification exercise for various parts to ensure parts are fit for purpose.


Job Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of material science and engineering principles.
  • Expertise in selecting and characterizing materials for additive manufacturing applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
