Special Vehicles Quality Process Engineer

Our automotive OEM Client based in Dunton; Essex in the United Kingdom are searching for a Special Vehicles Quality Process Engineer to join their team.  This position is confirmed as £20.83 per hour, Inside IR35 and therefore will be subject to full PAYE tax.  Details of this can be provided on request.

This is a 12-month contract with possibility of extension. The working pattern is 37 hours per working week and our Client are open to hybrid working discussions.

Position Description

This is an opportunity for a Special Vehicles Quality Process Engineer to support the Special Vehicles teams as well as suppliers to ensure product quality throughout the lifecycle. The Engineer will own and lead the Special Vehicles Quality Operating System (QOS) and Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), enabling high quality products and fast turnaround of issues. Special Vehicles operate to deliver bespoke upfit solutions to customers to drive their business productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the quality process for Special Vehicles.
  • Own and manage the priority issues affecting Special Vehicles.
  • Create and publish quality metrics.
  • Support cross-functional teams / meetings to ensure progress on issues affecting Special Vehicles.
  • Support management reviews with quality process road maps.
  • Support development of prevent recurrence plans and process improvement actions; track agreed work plans.
  • Support development of the Special Vehicles quality process and delivery performance metrics and dashboard/health charts.
  • Co-ordinate all Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) queries, resolving open issues and developing robust plans to meet program timing.
  • Lead STA activities at Suppliers, including the PPAP and PSW processes.

Skills Required

  • IT Literate, good working knowledge of MS Office and associated applications.

Experience Required

  • Candidate should be degree qualified in Engineering and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the Automotive Industry.
  • Strong Systems Engineering understanding.
  • Understanding of Quality Operating Systems.
  • Experience in Failure Mode Avoidance and Campaign prevention.
  • Experience in Quality roles.
