An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Accountant to join a forward-thinking Practice in East Belfast. This role is ideal for an individual with strong A-Level and GCSE grades in Maths, looking to embark on a career in accountancy. The Practice is committed to supporting the successful candidate through their studies to achieve a full Accountancy qualification, starting late summer/September 2024.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial and management accounts for a variety of clients including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Manage client expectations and ensure deadlines are met efficiently.
  • Support the preparation of personal and business tax returns.
  • Conduct bookkeeping activities, including journal postings and ledger reconciliations, using accounting software such as Xero and QuickBooks.
  • Prepare VAT returns and management accounts.
  • Provide support during audits as required.
  • Perform general administrative duties, including meeting and greeting clients, handling filing, and responding to telephone inquiries.
  • Collaborate with the team to meet deadlines and contribute to the overall success of the Practice.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong A-Level and GCSE grades, particularly in Maths.
  • A keen interest in pursuing a career in accountancy.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with team members and clients.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software is advantageous but not essential.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and development.
