Company Overview

Charles Brand Ltd is part of the Lagan Specialist Contracting Group (£200m turnover business) providing specialist contracting services across the globe. From bespoke civil engineering and M&E projects to plant hire and complex airport projects.

Originated in 1829 Charles Brand had a strong track record in Tunnelling, Railway, Marine and Civils sectors having completed projects at London Underground, Ben Crom Dam at Silent Valley, M1 Motorway at Grosvenor Road and multiple Flood Defence Schemes, Ports and Water Treatment Plants creating a strong brand in the UK, Ireland and Internationally.

Charles Brand are currently working on a range of exciting projects, including fibre installation across GB within our telecommunications division and various civil engineering projects within our civils division. We have recently been awarded a NI Water IF106 Framework and the Translink FW073 Framework.

Role Overview

As a TRR Supervisor you will be responsible for keeping safety and protocol always monitored. Set goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company's plans and vision and communicate them to subordinates. Organize workflow and ensure that contractors understand their duties or delegated tasks. Monitor productivity and provide constructive feedback.

What you'll bring:

Ideally you will come from a Telecoms background and work well under minimal supervision within a team, and oversee the daily work activities of various contractors/sub-contractors.

Essential:

  • Attention to detail and accuracy coupled with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • A total awareness and understanding of current health and safety procedures for working in the UK is essential.
  • Good IT literate in Microsoft Office packages
  • Ability to work within a team and with contractors.
  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve targets.
  • Able to communicate with people across multiple locations and at different levels, able to identify and work with key stakeholders inside and outside of Network Services business.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
  • Good people skills to lead and motivate team members.
  • Hold a valid NRSWA Street Works operative license.
  • Hold EUSR or equivalent (CSCS).
  • Sign, Lighting & Guarding (street works).
  • SA002 UG Safety Card.
  • K8 Test Rodding & Roping or N028.
  • Confined spaces trained (Low and Medium Risks).
  • Experienced in TRR and sub-duct.
  • Full right to work in UK unrestricted.
  • Full Driving License and flexibility to travel when required.
  • Previous experience in telecommunications build work or a related field is essential.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, out of hours and bank holidays as required.
  • Ability to self-manage time and work within deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the BT PIA network is essential.
  • GIS/ AutoCAD knowledge or similar system knowledge such as Deponet, Apex.
  • Be willing to complete Company and Group H&S Induction (24-month Validity)

Desirable:

  • Experience within a telecoms, utilities, or civil engineering environment
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of co-ordinating a team
  • Safety underground
  • Hand rodding & roping in the UG network
  • OFN Cabling in the UG network.
