Role Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Geospatial Data Scientist to join our fast Growing and hugely successful Data Science team, made up of over 50 talented and diverse Data Engineers, Scientists, Analysts and Hunters.

As a Senior Geospatial Data Scientist, you will lead the development of geospatial solutions to solve complex problems across business functions, leveraging your expertise in geospatial data analysis, machine learning and statistical modelling You will contribute to the development of insurance products & services.

Your focus:
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of geospatial machine learning models to extract insight from large geospatial datasets.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Conduct exploratory analysis and feature engineering to extract relevant information from geospatial datasets.
  • Develop predictive machine learning models, evaluate model performance, iterate model improvements to enhance accuracy.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of scalable data processing pipelines for geospatial data ingestion, processing & storage.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in geospatial analytics, machine learning & data science techniques, and incorporate them into existing workflows.
  • Mentor & provide guidance to less experienced team members, developing a collaborative environment.
  • Communicate findings and insight effectively to stakeholders through clear visualisations, reports and presentations.
About you

So what are we looking for?
  • Master's or PhD in Geospatial sciences, Geographical information systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience working in the financial services industry.
  • Proven experience in geospatial data analysis, including geospatial data manipulation, spatial statistics and visualisation.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java, with experience in geospatial libraries such as GDAL, GeoPandas, or ArcPy.
  • Proficiency in machine learning techniques and libraries for geospatial data analysis & modelling.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, and distributed computing frameworks such as Apache Spark, for processing large geospatial datasets.
  • Familiarity with geospatial databases and data visualisations such as tableau, QGIS & ArcGIS.
  • Knowledge of satellite imagery analysis, LIDAR data processing and other remote sensing techniques.
  • Experience deploying geospatial analytics solutions in production environments and integrating them into existing systems & workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently & collaboratively,
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical problems to non-technical stakeholders.
Our Ways of Working

The role can be based across sites in London, Bristol or Bournemouth. As the Senior Geospatial Data Scientist, you'll be working closely with the entire team across these offices. The Bristol office is part of our partnership with the University of Bristol.

Our office with flex model means that you will have the opportunity to work from home as well as the office. As a hybrid worker you will be in the office between 2 and 16 days per month depending on individual and business need. This will be discussed at interview stage
