Our esteemed client, a prominent civil engineering subcontractor, is actively seeking a Site Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.
With a rich history spanning over 13 years, the company showcases an impressive annual turnover of nearly 40 million, a committed workforce of 170, and a strategic presence with multiple offices across the UK. Primarily functioning as a subcontractor, they collaborate with various tier 1 civil contractors and government institutions, specializing in a diverse range of projects such as new traffic sign installations, lighting columns, and digital motorway communication systems.
Located in the North East of England, the company's focus extends to projects involving concrete sub-bases, drainage installations, ducting, chambers, trench work, cabling, junction boxes, tactile paving, street furniture, and kerbing. Project sizes range from 15,000 to 5 million, with an average project scale of 250,000. Significantly, 99% of the work is concentrated in the North East region.
We are in search of a predominantly office-based multi-site Site Manager, suitable for both experienced Site Managers and individuals transitioning from roles such as Sub Agent or Senior Engineer in larger tier 1 civils contractors seeking a managerial position. The responsibilities of this role include:
- Oversight of planning, managing, and coordinating live projects.
- Development of Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and the preparation of Health & Safety documentation.
- Preparation and briefing of comprehensive Job Packs for Site Operatives, ensuring a seamless handover to fulfill project scope.
- Efficient planning and management of project resources, encompassing labor, plant, and materials.
- Monitoring project progress against the established program.
- Active participation in client meetings.
- Responsibility for change management, closely collaborating with the commercial team.
- Document control to ensure organizational efficiency.
- Conducting "Toolbox Talks" and executing Site Safety and quality audits.
- Line management duties for operatives, including induction, PDRs, training, sickness management, and disciplinary hearings.
We seek applicants with the following qualifications and experience:
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
- CSCS Managers Card
- Working knowledge of CDM regulations
- Expertise in Programme and Risk Management, and cost control, including forecasting.
- Competence in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge of the NEC form of contract.
- Experience in Civils, Street Lighting, Technology Works, or Traffic Sign Contract Management.
