Field Service Engineer - Yorkshire – Permanent - £50-60k + overtime + 25 days holiday

Samuel Frank is recruiting for an OEM based in North Yorkshire as they’re looking for a Field Service Engineer to join their service team on a staff basis.

Good knowledge of PLCs is expected; the successful Field Service Engineer will have likely worked for an end-user in the past and will be a strong fault-finder on existing PLC code and can make PLC code changes where required.

The Field Service Engineer role will have a strong emphasis on working on machines on the shop floor rather than being away Monday-Friday every week.

Key aspects of the Field Service Engineer role include –

  • Sound PLC code interrogation experience and be able to make changes to existing code (could be Siemens, Rockwell or Beckhoff)
  • Be able to upload and download PLC code
  • Servo control knowledge
  • The company’s premises are commutable from the following locations - Leeds, Selby, Wetherby, Harrogate, Ripon, York, Pontefract, Doncaster, Hull / East Yorkshire and Wakefield – you’ll need to be based in this area
  • Previous experience of working away on customer sites
  • Have an understanding and experience of automated machinery and machine process
  • Any knowledge of Siemens Simotion would be highly advantageous
  • Knowledge robotics and/or vision systems would be useful – training on robotics could be provided

Other aspects to the Field Service Engineer role include -

  • Field Service Engineer role would be roughly 75/25 in terms of factory vs site based activities - factory located in between Leeds and York
  • You’d be allocated to a Principal Engineer who would help guide and mentor
  • UK & international travel – typical trips will be 1-2 weeks in duration and a rough estimate on international trips is 3-4 times per year
  • When not working on customer sites, the successful Field Service Engineer will finish work at lunchtimes on Fridays
  • Hours worked over 39 per week will be paid at x1.5 Monday to Saturday and x2.0 on Sundays
  • Minimal reactive work involved – most site work is pre-planned, especially international trips
  • Access to company vehicle when needed for site work (doesn’t include day to day commuting to work)
